Many communities have free assistance to help taxpayers file returns or address tax issues. Click here to locate free assistance in your area.
You can only get copies or transcripts of tax returns that your name is listed on. Transcripts of tax returns are free (Form 4506-T). There is a fee for full copies of a return (Form, 4506). Work with your advocate to determine which type of document suits your needs.
You may qualify for a relief of your responsibility from paying taxes. Talk to an accountant or contact a Taxpayer Advocate to find out all your options. Work with an advocate to determine the pros and cons of pursuing this exemption.
