There are emergency domestic violence shelters across the country for survivors and their children. Some shelters are confidential, meaning the location is not advertised or posted so women in hiding are less likely to be found. Others are non-confidential where many community members may know its location. Shelters look like any other home or building. They blend into their community and are usually unrecognizable to those passing by.
Shelters are staffed by trained, non-judgmental advocates that offer support, provide information, help you assess your immediate needs, and help you make informed choices.
