Annual Credit Report (Free)

You can check your credit report for free once a year through the Annual Credit Report website. If you contact the three credit reporting agencies individually, they may charge a fee. 

Safety Tips

• If you update your information when applying for your credit report, your new address will be in their system.  This is important if you have reason to believe information in your credit report has been compromised.

• Accounts can be monitored through on-line or telephone access. It is important to change all pin numbers or passcodes (use a combination of letters, numbers and symbols).

• In some cases it is advisable to work with your financial institutions to establish other means of identifying you other than by your name, birthdate, social security number or mother's maiden name. An example would be a code word, color or sentence.
